How often does your Company end up discarding products as their expiry dates have passed and you were not made aware that a product in your inventory was getting close to its expiry date? We have discussed in previous WinFDS Tips how you can use Lot Control and Expiry Dates for traceability purposes in the event of a product recall. This week, we will discuss how you can use that same information to generate a report that will provide you with the expiry dates of products you have in your inventory.
Note: When WinFDS is first set-up, we ask if the Lot Control functionality should be turned on. If the Lot Control functionality of WinFDS has not been turned on in your set-up of WinFDS, you will not be able to assign lot control or expiry dates to your products. You can determine if your 'Lot Control' functionality has been turned on as the 'Lot Control' checkbox in the 'Product Master File MF01' will be active. Furthermore, in order for WinFDS to be able to track expiry dates of a product, they must be designated as "Lot Controlled" items in the 'Product Master File MF01'. To learn more about how to set Lot Control and Lot Expiry Dates, search on "Lot Control and Lot Expiry Dates" in WinFDS Help.
