WinFDS has "Perpetual Inventory" meaning that as product is received, shipped, manufactured/processed, or adjusted, the inventory will automatically be added or removed accordingly. There are a number of processes within WinFDS that will automatically update your inventory. Sometimes inventory has to be adjusted that is not related to a process within WinFDS. As an example, you might need to remove product from your inventory if it expires or gets damaged while in your warehouse. In this situation, you will need to use "IC16 - Process Inventory Adjustments" to make your adjustment. If you are using the "Quality Control Quantities" functionality provided in WinFDS V7, moving products from the "Quality Control Quantity" inventory to your usable inventory is also performed as an adjustment.
Additional Benefits
- Ability to make adjustments up or down to your inventory
- Assign a reason why product is being adjusted
- Adjust inventory with specific Lot Numbers
- Transferring product from Quality Control Quantity inventory to usable inventory
Be advised that the screens being used and the features discussed are from WinFDS V6 and V7.
In this weeks discussion, we will walk you through the various functionality and capabilities in "IC16 - Process Inventory Adjustments".
Adjusting Inventory Quantities Up and Down
In our first example, we need to adjust our inventory because one of the cases was damaged and has to be removed from our saleable inventory. We will be adjusting one Unit from the our inventory with lot number "1916".
